As we move through the years, developing wrinkles is simply inevitable.
Our skin naturally loses elasticity as collagen and elastin levels plummet. We begin to pay the price for lifestyle choices like smoking and sun exposure or health conditions and hereditary factors. Even the joyful act of smiling and other repetitive facial expressions like frowning or squinting can help to etch the lines of age into our skin. So, what can we do to turn back the hands of time when it comes to aging skin?
Dysport injections can rejuvenate skin and erase the roadmap of age by smoothing dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movement and discouraging them from deepening in the future.
This treatment is a neuromodulator, an injectable drug that acts as a muscle relaxant to block nerve impulses that cause the facial muscles to contract. It smooths the skin and diminishes or erases glabellar lines, often called “1’s or 11s” lines between the brows, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles around the mouth, refreshing your face for up to 4 months per treatment.
Its active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A, the same ingredient found in Botox. At RX Aesthetics, we have evaluated and recommended the newer Dysport brand over Botox and several others due to what we find to be its superior natural, fast-acting, and long-lasting results. That said, we do have a handful of clients that trust the Botox brand, and we are happy to accommodate them.
Dysport contains a higher amount of active toxin per dose than Botox and other brands.
Its molecular composition allows Dysport to spread over a greater skin surface more easily. It also delivers a faster, clinically proven onset of results in 2 – 3 days versus two weeks for other brands, making it highly popular for those who want to see relatively immediate changes. Outcomes last up to 4 months and have some lasting benefits in staving off further deepening of wrinkles in the future, especially when one uses medical-grade skincare, sunscreen, and a retinol product.
Initially available in Europe and now available in 74 countries worldwide, Dysport has a documented safety and effectiveness track record. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Dysport in 2009, and today it has become a superstar as a minimally invasive treatment for wrinkles and fine lines.
The DREAM Study, an independent, clinical study of 120 subjects conducted in 2020 by realself to evaluate subject satisfaction Dysport treatments yielded these impressive results:
~ 97% of users thought results looked natural
~ 96% agreed that they appeared refreshed
~ 95% felt confident, attractive, and happy
~ 98% wanted to receive treatments again
This trial was based on two Dysport treatments, six months apart, to assess the longevity of the results. We recommend a treatment interval of every four months that gains even stronger anecdotal satisfaction scores at our practice. Like all non-surgical medical injections, Dysport begins with a professional consult.
Your medical injector will start with your medical history and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. They will also ask questions about your aesthetic goals and desired results, walk you through the process and post-treatment and review common and rare side effects.
Even though injections are technically non-surgical, they still require specific training of a medical professional to administer the treatment safely and effectively.
Price shopping may not provide you with a qualified, results-driven professional. Your chosen practice should have highly trained, credentialed, and experienced injectors that work directly under the oversight of a board-certified physician with extensive training in aesthetic services.
