An At-Home Skincare Regimen
You may have seen our recent blog post on Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacials.
We explored how an IPL treatment can help those who struggle with hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, rosacea, uneven skin tone, and more.
This month, RX Aesthetics team members attended a skincare conference offered by our valued partner, SkinCeuticals, which shed new light on how to amplify the remarkable outcomes of the IPL even further.
SkinCeuticals’ research confirmed the powerful protection that an antioxidant cocktail composed of vitamin C and ferulic acid can play to counteract harmful Ultraviolet (UV) and other forms of environmental damage.
The session presented the research behind a line-up of products that increases the IPL procedure’s already impressive results and significantly shortens recovery time. Here’s what we learned about an at-home regimen to ensure you get the best possible results from your IPL photofacial.
The first product is SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic, the worldwide gold standard for antioxidant vitamin C serums.
This patented daytime serum is clinically proven to penetrate the skin seventeen times deeper when applied after an IPL, profoundly reducing redness over the first five days of recovery. It can also minimize post-procedure downtime by up to forty-eight hours.
C E Ferulic features a combination of 15% pure vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), 1% pure vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and .5% ferulic acid for enhanced protection against atmospheric skin aging. The efficacy of these ingredients was included in a research study by The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology on the protective effects of an antioxidant mixture containing vitamin C and ferulic acid against photodamage in human skin.
The second product that supports excellent post-IPL results is SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense.
This daily-use dark spot corrector is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of key types of skin discoloration in all skin tones, including hard-to-treat forms such as stubborn brown patches and post-acne marks.
In a 12-week clinical study, Discoloration Defense delivered significant improvements in the skin with:
- 60% average improvement in the appearance of stubborn brown patches
- 59% average improvement in the appearance of skin discoloration
- 81% average improvement in the appearance of post-acne marks
- 59% average improvement in the appearance of even skin tone
Unlike the depigmentation formula Hydroquinone, there is no limitation on prolonged use of Discoloration Defense over time.
The final product recommended by SkinCeuticals’ research presentation is the Phyto Corrective Masque, which comes in both a gel and an essence mist.
This hydrating, soothing product contains botanicals that calm and hydrate skin on contact and improves visual redness immediately upon application. It can reduce post-procedure discomfort by forty-seven percent. Phyto Corrective Masquealsosignificantly reduces redness for rosacea and sunburn.
This month, patients who book an IPL and purchase SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic and Discoloration Defense products will receive a Phyto Corrective Masque gel or mist as our gift to you, a $67. value! Book your appointment right here.
